SYNTHESIZING
making sense of our user
We learned through talking with riders that there are 3 distinct groups of users.
EXTREME USERS
- uncomfortable riding the train
- high level of fear
- safety > efficiency
MODERATE USERS
- comfortable with familiar stations after training.
- unlikely to visit new stations
- reach out to strangers every step of the way
- not “ultra - indepentent”
TARGET
EXPERT USERS
- very independent
- comfortable riding trains
- not “ultra - indepentent”
- memorized routes
- may not reach out to help, even when available
USER JOURNEY MAPPING
We outlined every step of our users’ journeys and made note of difficulites, areas of effortlessness, and paid close attention to why our users were making decisions.

CO DESIGNING
engaging users in the process
We conducted a co creation session with our user group and experts to gain their feedback on our concepts. We had them point each concept and star their favorites.

CHAT INTERFACE
Rather than asking people every step of their journey, they can ask direct questions to their phone. Using beacon technology, the app will be able to know what station the user is at, what platform he/she is on and what information is most relevant to this user.
